What is DIGITAL 3D Photogrammetry?
Why using it in Architecture?

What is photogrammetry?
Photogrammetry is surveying of objects by photos.
Photogrammetry is used for object surveying with hundreds or thousands of points, or objects who are difficult to acces.
It takes advantages for high (like towers or bridges in architecture) or complex objects (like preservation buildings in architecture).
It is not used only for distance measurement, ulta-realistic Photo-Models (3D) with photorealistic video animations can be created.

What is digital photogrammetry?
Digital photogrammetry is surveying of objects by digital photos.
The photogrammetry process is more:
a) accurate: there are no more developpemt process & reference points
b) easyer: archieving of hundreds historical buildings by hundreds of photos are possible
c) inexpensive: digital photos are high-quality & low-coast

What is 3D photogrammetry?
3D photogrammetry is surveying of objects by photos taken in different angles.
The accuraty is about +- 1 centimeter by normal buildings (10 m lenght)

Why using it in architecture?
- fast measurement: results possible in 1 week for complex objects
- low-cost measurement: approx. budget 20 - 50 % of traditional surveying (about $ 2.000 and not $ 10.000)
- quality measurement: max. error 0.1 % (normal error 0.05 %) of the object dimension, example - object size 20 meters, max. error 1 cm in 3D!
- ultrarealistic low-cost Photo-Models from existend Architecture for cinema, promotion, videos or computer games
- Symbiosis with new CAA (computer aided architecture) created buildings for films or urban analysis
- Photo / Photomodels database for museums, administrations or scools
- low-cost region preservation, the photogrammetrical analysis can be taken years after the cration of the database, budget 10% of the complete analysis
